repair cafe on Nov 4th was exciting

Here are some pics of the repair cafe on Saturday, our youngest volunteer is 8 years old. We had a success of 100 percent in repairs this go around, that’s a first.

The students sat down and created an Excel spreadsheet to help track things: customer name, email, phone, what item they brought in and if the repair was successful, any comments they have, and a column for permission for us to contact them with more cafe info. The students will also be creating 15 second and 3 minute videos of the cafes over the next year. Was cool to watch them create.

This is why we put on Repair Cafés! People with repair skills get the appreciation they deserve, while passing on invaluable practical skills. Therefore Cafés help to change people’s mindset, and is essential in charging people’s enthusiasm for a sustainable community. We throw away vast amounts of stuff. Even things with almost nothing wrong get a new lease on life.

As a Repair Café we sometimes gets asked whether access to free repair Cafés compete with professional repair services. The answer is; quite the opposite. Repair Cafés focus attention on the possibility of getting things repaired. https://sustainablelife.biz/projects
